GETTING STARTED
WE'RE EXCITED YOU'RE HERE!
Becoming part of the Waitaha Swim Club is a positive step in a swimmer's development as they move up from Canterbury Swim School.
A Waitaha coach will invite the swimmer to join the Club. Doing this not only introduces the very best candidates into the teams, but gives the both the swimmer and their parents the opportunity to consider the commitments and requirements of squad training. Fundamentally, you must enjoy swimming - your coaches will help you with the rest.
SOME CONSIDERATIONS:.
- Swimming is both a team and individual sport, that's part of what makes it a great choice. Consider what it means to be part of a team so that both individual swimmer and their team can progress together, develop a strong work ethic, and contribute to our positive club culture.
- Attend training sessions regularly.
- Show regular a keen interest in competing. A minimum competitive participation level of one meet per term is required to maintain your position in your squad.
TYPES OF MEMBERSHIP
There are three types of membership under which you can compete in swimming events
-
Non-Registered Swimmers: May enter "Have a Go" events (25M/50M) at SCWC Carnivals. You'll find a list of these on the SCWC website here.

-
Club Membership (for CSS swimmers): Registering as a Waitaha Club Member will allow entry to all Club and SCWC Carnival events. If you intend to enter events regularly, we recommend registering as a competitive swimmer. To complete your registration, follow the steps below.

-

STEP 5: Parents - complete your police vetting form. We couldn't function if it weren't for our amazing volunteers, and we would appreciate you supporting both your child and your club by registering to help at events. To get started all you need to do is complete the police vetting process through Swimming New Zealand by following the simple steps on their website here. Once we receive notice that you have completed police vetting, we'll be in touch to support you as you learn the voluntary roles that are critical to making swimming events possible for our children.

STEP 6: Register in the "Members Area" on our website here. Here you'll find all our club and uniform information, and your squad training details.

STEP 7*: Attend training! Getting along to regular training sessions is essential in helping you prepare for swim meets. Your coach will advise you on which meets to enter, and they're there to support you through the process.... *We're pretty sure the coaches would say this is step 1 :)
