SWIM MEETS
For the swim meet calendar and all information about events coming up go to
canterbury.swimming.org.nz
Competitive meets are where all the hard training hours pay off. All club swimmers are expected to compete at meets suitable for their level. Have a chat to your coach if you need some help selecting the best events and meets for your swimmer.
ENTERING A SWIM MEET
Swim meet entry deadlines are published on the meet flyer - you need to check and enter by the final date - no late entries are allowed.
-
Squad swimmers enter competition events using the swimming nz website online system (MyPage)
-
Before entering, get your entries checked by your squad coach.
You pay the entry fees when you enter your swimmer in the online system. To enter online you need to register your swimmer on the swimming nz website using their registration number (see Jenny for your number).

@ THE SWIM MEET
During a meet, all Waitaha swimmers, coaches,, and parents, are expected to be polite and well mannered.
All competing swimmers are expected to stay until the last Waitaha swimmer has completed their last race. If swimmers need to leave early they need the coach or team manager's permission.
Advice for parents
-
Arrive early - Get to the meet in plenty of time, usually 20-30 mins before the scheduled warm up time for swimmers to stretch. Deliver your swimmer to the team manager at the Waitaha seating area., and sit in the spectator area (not with swimmers) if there is one
-
Be supportive and don't interfere with warm up, marshaling, or n the pool deck and when the meet is over be positive
VOLUNTEERING
Swim meets rely on parent volunteers to help with timekeeping and other official duties, without this voluntary help swim meets wouldn’t happen.
-
Parents of all squad members must be prepared to help out with officiating duties or timekeeping at a minimum of 4 meets per year.
-
Parents also need to help out with catering and other meet duties when Waitaha is rostered as duty club by Swimming Canterbury/West Coast or when Waitaha is hosting a meet, regardless of whether or not their child is swimming.

MEET RIBBONS AND MEDALS
We present ribbons and medals won at a meet to the swimmers at the next training session after the meet (or at a time suitable for the squad) so that the whole squad can celebrate.
